If you A) live in or around Portland, B) use social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and C) aren’t some kooky shut-in, chances are you’ve heard of PDX Pipeline. I follow them on Twitter, and it’s a great place to hear about upcoming concerts, food and beverage events, pro sports, film [...]

These are the things the new Facebook Timeline profile format tells me, and perhaps in the bigger [...]

When we started AM:PM PR, we knew we [...]
Continue Reading →Portland has been all a-Twitter about NBC’s new supernatural/fairy-tale-based thriller “Grimm” filming in town, and with good reason. Given Oregon’s abyss of joblessness, we’ll take any employment we can get. Secondly, for those of us who are tired of unimaginative reality TV, the recent slew of horror, fantasy and sci-fi themed options [...]

Racism is based on power, and, well, this isn’t a blog about reverse racism, so I won’t waste any more of your time with my philosophical ramblings. I simply mention it to preface what I’m about to say.
Reverse [...]

While waiting for the train, I studied the posters that fill [...]
Continue Reading →You know that story about the Round Table of Arthurian legend arising from the knights demanding to all be treated equally? Total nonsense. I wasn’t there or anything – I had a previous commitment at Morgana’s place – but I can tell you exactly what happened. It went a little something like this:

Being the irreverent sorts they are, Odenkirk and Cross used it to poke fun at marketing/advertising types, and they hit the nail on the head. [...]

As far back as he can remember, Jake wanted to be a Public Relations professional. He just didn’t know it.
So, Jake started out in the newspaper game, rising from entry level copy editor to award-winning critic and columnist in a few short years. Along the way, he soaked up all that was right and wrong with press releases. He continued his obsessive study of music and movies, cocktails and the culinary arts.
Then, an opportunity presented itself. He moved to Portland and went to work for a prominent PR firm, providing the voice for Loafy, Tillamook Cheese’s jovial spokescheese. He also expanded his freelance contributions to The Oregonian, writing food reviews in addition to the celebrity interviews and music coverage that had been his bread and butter.
Now, as AM:PM PR's Minister of Propaganda, he stands poised to realize his destiny of connecting people with products and services that will make their lives triumphant. As far back as he can remember, Jake wanted to be a Public Relations professional. Now he knows. And knowing is half the battle.
